Review: RIMMEL EXTRA SUPER LASH MASCARA

Rimmel London has a new mascaras-- EXTRA SUPER LASH and EXTRA WOW LASH!! Both priced at $2.99 at my local Target. I chose to buy EXTRA SUPER LASH versus EXTRA WOW LASH because the brush on WOW looked huge and I don't like big bristled brushes because I always manage to mess up!

Product details/description:
  • BODY BUILDING MASCARA.
  • Builds lashes from natural to dramatic by thickening and lengthening lashes coat after coat.
  • You can control the volume.
  • Super lash separation.
  • Suitable for sensitive eyes.
  • Ophthalmologically tested.
  • Made in England.

First reaction before trying product:
Packaging looks cute and it's not bulky either, opposite of CoverGirl's LashBlast which is ginormous!

Formula seems to be dry. Drier formulas tend to hold curl better versus wet formulas. Wetter formulas tend to weigh down your lashes making the curl fall. Example of a wet formula would be Maybelline's Great Lash.

The special LIFT & BUILD brush is cone shaped,
the tip being pointed to make it easier to coat hard to
reach areas making sure every lash is coated.

Overall I really like this mascara!! I didn't use an eyelash curler and it did lift and build my lashes even made my lashes curl up more. Be in mind that my lashes were already semi-curly naturally. Does a good job in separating each lash. Clumping is minimal. Formula dries pretty fast. I think two coats is good enough.

Left- with mascara, Right- bare lashes

Mascara applied to top and bottom lashes.

Current Makeup Favorites: What's in my makeup bag?

Hello Beauty Junkies!!

Just want to say thank you for those who have checked out my blog! I am here to share my love of makeup!

These are currently what I have been using everyday the past couple months. Most of these products I've loved for years and some I have recently discovered in the past month.

Foundation: Revlon ColorStay Foundation Combination/Oily Spf 6 in Golden Biege
I've got oily skin and this foundation lasts an 8 hour work day and then some! Been using this since high school. Price is about $10 at Target or Walmart.

Concealor: Maybelline Mineral Power Natural Perfecting Concealer in Sand (Medium 0-1)
I like using this for the under eyes because it blends very easily!

Face brushes: Sonia Kashuk Flat Foundation Brush ($14.99 at Target) and E.L.F. Flat Powder Brush ($3 at Target)
Both of these brushes are amazing! Especially for the price!

Face Powder: Tarte Provocateur Amazonian Clay Pressed Mineral Powder Spf 8 in Medium 08 ($30 for compact and powder, refills can be purchased for $20)
I apply this after my foundation and it keeps my face less greasy. Coverage is sheer to medium depending on what you use to apply. When I use my E.L.F. brush it gives me a sheer coverage and when used with the sponge it will give you more coverage. I also really love the metallic quilted purple compact that it comes with.

Bronzers: Nars Bronzer in Casino and Revlon ColorStay Mineral Finshing Powder in Suntan Matte
These both are not completely matte but they are not shimmery or sparkly. I use Nars if I want more of a bronze and Revlon for a more sheerer bronze.

Highlighter: Revlon ColorStay Mineral Finishing Powder in Brighten
This is like the powder version of Benefit's High Beam. I perfer Revlon because I have oily skin.

Blush: Nars blush in Deep Throat
I am in love with this blush!! I made my husband by this for me and he questioned me if this was actually the name of it, lol. Give you a sweet glow on your cheeks and no matter how much you apply you will never look like a clown. I just love the easy, breezy-ness of this color and it's just so darn pretty!!

Eye Shadow Primer: Too Faced Shadow Insurance
I switch from this and Urban Decay but lately I have perfered this because it's easier to blend shadows.

Mascara: Covergirl Lash Blast Volume Waterproof in black and Neutrogen Healthy Volume in Black
Lashblast holds the curl, enough said! Neutrogena is just like Covergirl's Lashblast but not waterproof for days when I don't want any fuss in removing my eye makeup. Both of these mascaras have a dry formula making them good for holding the curl of your lashes.

Eyeshadows: Wet n Wild Palette in Vanity and E.L.F. Mineral Eyeshadow in Angelic
Use this palette daily! Palette has 3 matte and 3 satin/shimmer shadows that are great for everyday looks. I use the E.L.F. shadow in Angelic for my inner tear duct and on brow bone to brighten my whole eye look.

Lip gloss: Too Faced Mirror Mirror Shine lipgloss in Envy Me and Nivea A Kiss of Shine Natural Glossy Lip Care
Too Faced Mirror Mirror Shine lipgloss in Envy Me is hands down my favorite gloss. I know I can get the same look with Benefit's Benetint and clear Mac Lipglass but this gloss it the combination of the two and who doesn't like the easy way out? Then we have the Nivea gloss, I use this more like a lip balm and has a plus of being glossy!

Lipstain: NYC Smooch Proof 16HR lipstain in Berry Long Time 498
This is just like Benefit's Benetint for the fraction of the cost. It says it lasts 16 hours but it's more like 3-4 hours. Still a great product regardless!

Setting Spray: Urban Decay De Slick Oil Control Makeup Setting Spray
After Revlon Colorstay and powder on top, I spray this to set everything and to make my face look less "powdery." Also controls oil.

What are your current beauty obsessions?

xoxo,
Cheryl

NOTD/Review: Essie Nail Polish in CASE STUDY

Essie Nail Color in Case Study
Seche Vite Fast Dry Top Coat
(no flash, in natural light)

(with flash)

I was browsing around Target on my lunch break and of course I always end up in the makeup aisles. I was craving a new nail color and lately I have been obsessed with NUDE COLORS on my nails. I was already in love with SAND TROPEZ, also by ESSIE. Then I saw that they had the 2011 Fall Collection and instantly fell in love with CASE STUDY. (There were only 4 colors available at my Target  and I believe there are 8 total.) CASE STUDY is a brown biege color with a hint of olive green (olive green has always been a favorite of mine). This has no shimmer. Application is smooth and I got an opaque color with 2 coats. If you like SAND TROPEZ you will love CASE STUDY!!!

P.S. Always remember to use a base coat before applying your nail color. Think of a base coat as a primer for your nails. Then apply a top coat last. I HIGHLY reccomend SECHE VITE FAST DRY TOPCOAT! When using this topcoat you will never look back at any other. Nails will be dry in about 5 minutes!!

Nice to meet you!!

I always love reading blogs and Miss Natty actually is the one blog that I most frequently check. So she inspired me to begin a beauty blog.

I am very excited to begin this blog. I was a former Cosmetology student at Paul Mitchell the School in San Diego but never finished BUT-- I will someday pursue my dream. I live, breathe and eat beauty and I hope that I can help and inspire YOU with my reviews. I also have a YouTube Channel, but I will be blogging most of the time because it's just easier for me to type everything out and being in front of a camera is still a little akward for me since I have not been doing it for too long.

Cheryl
